Another gratuitous mp3. This is me and fiddlerbob doing a live version of Peggy Day. We performed this in August 2002 at Rubber Soul Records in Ypsilanti, MI.

The grace in dying - how we are transformed spiritually as we die
Every dying person withdraws from the world. Let us allow them to do that. The distractions no longer have any fascination or importance. What remains is more essential. What begins to emerge as necessary are simple things: the good, the true and the beautiful. May we allow the attention to naturally return to what is real. As Therese Schroeder-Sheker puts it, let us help them unbind all that binds them to attachment to the body. It is hard for all of us to let go.

And then it fell apart one day
Kind of a long poem composed on my daily walk. I lost someone who's dear to me.

I wrote and recorded this song just as cancer was robbing me of my singing voice. At present I am exploring my options with my "new voice" as well as searching for a new muse.
I am also waiting to learn if the cancer has been put into remission. If not I guess my singing voice is the least of my concerns.

Singin his song for me at his own expense.
And I'm just like that bird, singin just for you
I hope that you can hear,
hear me singin thru these tears."

Thomas Pynchon
Don't believe what They tell you. Don't believe what you've heard, and here's what you've probably heard: Thomas Pynchon's novels are brilliant but difficult; the multiple plots twist and turn and rarely resolve; there are a gazillion characters; you'll need a dictionary and an encyclopedia to understand all the scientific metaphors and obscure words. This is the rap, and there is some truth to it. But it's not the whole truth, not nearly. As one seasoned reader of Pynchon put it, "difficult, schmifficult!"
