The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a Socialist. The words "under God" were added later during the height of the Mcarthy era. Some people like these words for the same reason that others deem them unconstitutional. They help sustain the delusion that there is some mutual theology that this nation was founded on, the very delusion the founders of this country set out to protect us from.
